Week 2 : Learning Outside the classroom.

Rubric

I  believe  that  some  of  you  were  similar  to  the  word  "Rubric".  And  of  course  not,  it  is  not  the  game  "Rubick"  but  this  word  "Rubric"  is  another  things  that  necessary  for  all  English  teacher  to  know  and  learn.  Let  me  tell  you  more  in  formation  about  it.
A rubric is a multi-purpose scoring guide for assessing student products and performances.  This tool works in a number of different ways to advance student learning, and
has great potential in particular for non-traditional, first generation, and minority students.
In addition, rubrics improve teaching, contribute to sound assessment, and are an
important source of information for program improvement.  Now  you  know  that  what  is  the  rubric  is?  It's  time  for  you  to wondering  that  "How  can  I  make  a  rubric ?"
A rubric involves four components: Part 1: Task Description,  Part 2: Scale,  part  3  :  Dimension  and  part  4  :  Description  of  the dimensions. Next,  let's  move  to  the  way  to grading  a  rubric.  Grading rubrics are an effective tool for providing students with your expectations on a given task as well as providing you with a standardized grading mechanism. Rubrics identify the important traits (those to which you assign a score or deduct points) of a task and articulate performance levels. Rubrics attempt to make explicit the implicit criteria by which you grade or assess student performance.  A grading rubric should be created with the following items:
Specific qualities (or traits) to be assessed,  Standards or levels of performance  and Specific indicators describing what the various levels of performance look like for each of the qualities being assessed (Delivee Wright, 1999) Don't  forget  to  be cautious not to make the indicators so broad that they are non-descriptive; they should be as focused as a student learning objective.
To  sum  up,  I  can  say  that  the  "rubric"  is  the  innovation  of  assessment  in  English  teaching  which  is  give  us  another  level of developing  in  teaching  English.

Week 2 : Learning Inside the classroom.

Communicative  Language Teaching
( CLT )

In  all  the  English  teachers'  social,  CLT  is  one  of  the  principle  that  famous  and  used  to  based  on  teaching  English.  I  believe that  most  people  will  say  "Ah-ha",  when  they  heard  the  word  "CLT  or  Communicative  Language  Teaching."
CLT  is  the  principle  that  make  real  communication  the  focus  of  language, and also  provide opportunities  of  learners  to  experiment,  try  out  and  develop  their  skills  which  based  on  four  macro  skills,  listening,  speaking,  reading  and  writing.  The  activities  which  are  used  in  CLT  are  consist  of  teaching  grammar  in  the  context  or  task.  Use  various  kinds  of  activities  such  as  problem  solving,  information  sharing,  role  play,  simulation  and  etc.  Teach  both  of  inductively  and  deductively  grammatical.
To  sum   up,  CLT  is  the  most  famous  priciple  in  this  age  of  time.  Because  of  CLT  method  and  propose  are  link  to  the  learning  style  in  the 21st  century.  And  also  let  the  students  discover  their  knowledge  by  themselves.

Week 1 : Studying outside the classroom.

After the first day of studentying at  NSTRU, I have to go to my mother's school. I have been teaching there for almost 3 months. Now, I have opened English club named  "E-Spark Club" The club to help people or students who want to learn English but no opportunity to learns.

After two months of teaching at  my mother school. I have found that most children have problems with English language. So I'm trying to find a principle to develop skills of the students in learning English. After I tried to do my best to get any information, I chose to use the four macro skills of  listening, speaking, reading and writing. I start by listening first, because I believe that all people start  their listening skill before they were born. Therefore, it would be the best way to start with listening skill. I started my test for 2 weeks with listening skills. I've found that students'  English level is better. They loved English more because they understand .They  also think that  English is not difficult like they though. From  this project, I thought that maybe it was because of when they studied with Thai teacher. Thai teacher is  focusing  on reading and writing. So when they study English with foreign teacher, they can not understand. Therefore, they are not good with  English language because the process between Thai teachers and foreign teacher are differrent.

To sum up, teachers have to integrate what your students want to learn? Or how to  improve your students level ? Not what you want to teach or what you want you students to do in your class.
